Dear
Bookstore owner,
Encounter Books is distributed through National Book Network (800-462-6420) whose efforts I will be coordinating. If you have any questions, please contact me at the e-mail address or phone number below and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Encounter Books has made an impact by publishing serious non-fiction that countsby offering the reader an encounter with books that are well written, enthusiastically promoted, and at the crest of public policy and current events. The hot button issues of our timethe War against Terror, immigration, news bias, stem cells and the dignity of life, race and racism, the contest between religion and secularityhave been our central subjects. But we have also published biographies of figures as various as the great American writer James T. Farrell (on the hundredth anniversary of his birth); America’s Mayor Rudi Giuliani and America’s Bishop Fulton J. Sheen; and environmental activist Judi Bari. And we have presented important books on education, the law, and American history that form a strong backlist of titles which gives us particular satisfaction.
Encounter is committed to the prosperity of independent bookstores. They are crucial to our success, so such a commitment makes good economic sense. But we also feel that the independents are vital to our publishing culture and our intellectual life, and we want to do what we can to ensure that they remain robust and competitive.
Add your name to our
mailing list.
We will send you updated catalogues and periodic e-mail containing
information on Encounter Books, the publishing projects we are
involved in, and the authors we have out on tour.
We look forward to working with you.
