J. JACOB TAWNEY serves as the Chief Academic Officer for Great Hearts Academies, a network of classical charter schools across multiple states.
Mr. Tawney has an undergraduate degree in mathematics and computer science from Denison University in Granville, Ohio. He continued his studies at The Ohio State University where he earned a masters degree in mathematics. During his time in Ohio, Mr. Tawney also taught at the Pontifical College Josephinum, including courses in Euclid and the Philosophy of Mathematics. In 2014 he relocated his family to Phoenix, AZ to join Great Hearts Academies.
Mr. Tawney is the proud husband of Christina Tawney and the proud father of eight children, all of whom have something unique in their souls that can only be satisfied by wondering about mathematics.
This book is not a curriculum. It is, however, a list of “those things from mathematics you should have learned but probably didn’t.” The theorems and proofs in this book represent, in a small way, some of the best that has been said within the discipline of mathematics.
